Andrew Cowley is head of Macquarie Capital Fund’s Private Equity Group in London and is also Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Macquarie Airports, a listed fund which has controlling interests in Sydney, Brussels, Copenhagen and Bristol airports with total enterprise value of $15 billion. In 2007 Andrew led the sale of Macquarie’s interests in Rome and Birmingham airports, generating cash-on-cash multiples of 2.7 times and 2.6 times respectively.

Andrew represents Macquarie on the boards of Moto, Brussels Airport and Copenhagen Airport.

Prior to joining Macquarie in 2006, Andrew was responsible for the direct private equity activities of Allianz AG based in London. At Allianz, which manages €1.4 trillion, Andrew served on the investment committee of funds investing in mid-market transactions in Europe and North America and in energy transactions (conventional and renewable). Earlier in his career Andrew was chairman of Dresdner Bank’s operations in Russia. He started his career at S E Warburg Ltd in London in 1985 .

Andrew has a MA (Honours) in Modern History from Magdalen College, Oxford.
