Anthony Clake joined Marshall Wace in August 2001, directly from University following consultancy work with the company during 1999 and 2000. Previously he studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at The Queen's College, Oxford. He was elected to the Gibbs scholarship for obtaining the highest marks awarded in preliminary and final examinations.

Anthony has been responsible for the development of the TOPS strategies since their initiation in 2001. As the Global Product Manager for TOPS, Anthony has overseen the geographic expansion of the unique investment process to Europe, Asia, USA and in Emerging Markets. The TOPS investment process is the principle building block of one of the largest Equity long/short funds in the world, and through its development Marshall Wace is acknowledged to have developed substantial competitive advantage. The scalable TOPS investment process systematically pole in excess of 3000 individual broker counterparties in 390 organisations in 47 countries resulting in optimized, diversified portfolios producing top decile risk adjusted returns.

AIn recognition of his extraordinary contribution to the development of the firm, Anthony in 2004, at the age of 24, was made a partner of Marshall Wace.
